How do you add multiple images to a product?

The documentation for virtuemart does not appear to be accurate for the current version.  Can anyone provide instructions for how to connect more that 1 image to a product?

When I'm adding a product the last thing I do is give this product an image and then click save. Then the site is showing an info page of that product. Just above the product stats there is a link that will take you back to the product you just left, click it, then point to the VM menu Products, navigate down to Filemanager. Here you'll see a new item that's only here when you have a product "active", it says Add image/file. Click that and add your image. When you click Save you remain in the filemanager and "inside" the item that you were adding images to. If you want to add another image just click New at the top right of the screen as many times you want.

I have tried the above, but when I click on 'Save' (after choosing another file to upload) nothing happens.

If I click on 'apply' then it tells me that the file has been uploaded and the thumbnail created, but there is still only the original picture being displayed on my store.

Any ideas?
