Oh, I see. I'll try the hack on a VM 1.0.15 and see what happens, but it may be a while before I can get to it. Please post here if you resolve the issue before then.

Testing on a shopper completed.  I tested using two different shoppers that belong to different tax exempt groups (Government, Wholesale).  Sales tax is still applied regardless of the Virtual tax setting.

OK, then I guess the hack needs to be updated.

Ok,  I applied the mod suggested above by hobartimus to the ps_checkout.php file (just adding parenthesis around the 'or' statement), and sales tax now is applied properly and the Virtual tax setting only seems to affect zero weight items (as it should).  At least everything works from the front-end.

I will continue to hunt for how to clean up the notices when updating or saving shopper groups from the backend.  Thanks again!  I'll check back...

Regarding the previous errors we were getting:

Wow, quick response!  Thanks.
Additional info:  I get a similar error
"Notice: Undefined index: show_price_including_tax in /home/gci/gcitechsource.com/www/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/classes/ps_shopper_group.php on line 137"
when creating new shopper groups but all the info stored in the db is good.  Also, existing groups do not update the tax exempt status when I save changes...

We think these are related to a corrupted db or db server on our development server, possibly related to the tools used to modify the db.  We are re-installing to the db and testing.

When we uploaded the modified php files from our dev server to the production server everything worked with no error notices.

The only outstanding issue is that the system does not save changes to the tax exempt status on existing groups.  Creating new tax exempt groups works fine.  We are comparing differences in our MySql version to earlier versions to see if maybe there is a syntax error/incompatibility with the hack.

more as we find it

I have virtuemart 1.0.15 stable and this script isnt working. The tax still shows at checkout. If I uncheck the Virtual Tax then it shows 0 on the wholesale and retail shoppers.

I am trying to get this to work in Joomla 1.0.12 VM 1.1.2.

There are some small changes in the code.

One thing the /administrator/components/com_virtuemart/language/english.php is not longer store this way, there is a list of folders under language and each folder has an english.php file.

Does anyone know which file needs to be updated with the change Thomas recommended in the first post of this thread?

Did you ever find out where the english.php is located in the 1.1.2 version of VM?

No, and the project has been put on hold, so I have not searched each file to try to find the code.

If you figure it out please share with the VM community.
