I have tried just about everything at least once and a few things more than a handful of times. If there is anyone interested, I have turned my Virtuemart URLs into that listed below, even for products that are listed multiple times throughout multiple categories.

I don't understand your intervention....everybody knows openSEF....this use TOO MUCH SQL RESSOURCE...so if you make one sell a day, that's ok...take it...
may be you've never seen the sql ressource graph for this component.... awful !

yes it works with joomla content
I've just finished the joomfish integration so it works with all languages
It probably needs some modification for some specific chars, but it's fine for english, french, german, italian, spanish, etc...

by the way I'm thinking about making a package of the files
in this case I don't need to write a specific htaccess for each site
you'll loose the google pr, and I won't manage 301 redirection (only for a already done VM site)
but it'll be the sefadvance price so 49 euros

the first site (after mines) will be available for presentation on tuesday I think (It's finished but the web agency needs the customer agrement for me to give the url)

I've spent a long long time trying to find the ideal fix for SEO - Gwen is it.  Functions fantastic with Joomlafish too, is really fast and gives perfectly concise URLs.  Gwen implemented it in no time.  Well worth it.

I don't think the load is that awful as you try to discript, maybe you can provide your query counts? Or is your talking just marketing?

did you read your sql charge graph with and without opensef ? if not do it
once again if you have 1 sell/day you use openSef I'm talking about real businnes online, with at least 1500 visitors a day
there's no mystery...openSef is made for any component whereas mine is done FIRST for virtuemart and second for joomla

I notice that the pagination within categories with over a certain number of products isn't supported.  Do you think it's something that's even possible?  For example to have shop/category-page1 shop/category-page2 etc?
